The Importance of Hydraulic Oil Filtration

For a long time, the importance of hydraulic oil filters has not been taken seriously. People believe that if hydraulic equipment does not have problems, there is no need to check hydraulic oil. The main problems are in these aspects:

1. Lack of attention and misunderstanding by management and maintenance technicians;

2. It is believed that newly purchased hydraulic oil can be directly added to the fuel tank without the need for filtration;

3. Not linking the cleanliness of hydraulic oil to the lifespan of hydraulic components and seals, as well as hydraulic system failures.

In fact, the cleanliness of hydraulic oil directly affects the normal operation of hydraulic equipment. Research has shown that 80% to 90% of compressor failures are caused by contamination of the hydraulic system. Main issues:

1) When the hydraulic oil is severely oxidized and dirty, it will affect the operation of the hydraulic valve, resulting in valve jamming and rapid wear of the valve core;

2) When hydraulic oil undergoes oxidation, emulsification, and particle contamination, the oil pump may malfunction due to cavitation, corrosion of the copper components of the oil pump, lack of lubrication of the moving parts of the oil pump, and even burn out the pump;

3) When the hydraulic oil is dirty, it can greatly shorten the service life of seals and guide components;

The causes of hydraulic oil pollution:

1) Friction of moving parts and impact of high-pressure oil flow;

2) Wear of seals and guide components;

3) The wax produced by the oxidation and other qualitative changes of hydraulic oil.

The correct method to maintain the cleanliness of hydraulic oil:

1) The hydraulic system must be equipped with an independent high-precision circulating filtration system and a high-precision return oil filter;

2) When changing oil, new oil must be filtered before being added to the tank, and attention must be paid to avoiding secondary pollution;

3) Strictly control the oil temperature, and the normal oil temperature should be controlled between 40-45 ℃;

4) Regularly check the cleanliness and oil quality of hydraulic oil;

5) Replace the filter element in a timely manner every two to three months after the filter alarm is activated.

The selection of filter and filter accuracy should consider a balance between economy and technology. The use of our hydraulic oil filtration products can effectively solve this contradiction. If necessary, improve the existing filtration system and use high-precision filter elements to reduce faults caused by unclean hydraulic oil in the compressor.
